A synthesis of manual and mechanical production
Schmedt´s Prä machines are the result of the needs of hand bookbinders. In 1967, the PräGnant blocking press was developed, because bookbinders asked for a simple and efficient press. During the years, a wide range of machines was put on the market, which in the meantime covers all processes involved in the production of hardcover books. Thereby always keeping in mind: format changes must be simple and nearly without setup times, small and medium volumes in library quality have to be feasible and investment must be manageable.
